About Ananda UK
Meditation ~ Community ~ Yoga ~ Spiritual Growth
Ananda is a global spiritual movement dedicated to the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda and the community ideals of Swami Kriyananda. We teach and share effective techniques for living a life based on inner security and joy through meditation, Kriya Yoga, and divine friendship. We are a UK and Ireland-based yoga and meditation community.
What is Kriya Yoga?
Kriya Yoga is an ancient meditation technique, brought to the west by Paramhansa Yogananda, and is also a comprehensive spiritual path of additional meditation practices and guidance for living.
According to Yogananda, Kriya is the most effective technique available to mankind today for reaching the goal of Yoga: union with the Divine. Kriya Yoga is so effective because it works directly with the source of growth — the spiritual energy deep in our spines.
Benefits of Kriya Yoga practice:
- Spiritual Growth
- Inner Peace
- Divine Love
- Inner Security
- Calmness and Clarity
Our Inspiration
Paramhansa Yogananda
Yogananda was the first great master of yoga to make his home in the West, coming to the U.S. from India in 1920. Ananda is based on the teachings of Yogananda and his line of gurus. His teachings are universal and take you to the heart of an intimate relationship with the Divine.
Swami Kriyananda
Swami Kriyananda (J. Donald Walters) is the founder of Ananda. In 1948, at the age of 22, he became a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda. He dedicated his life to his Guru, bringing to life Yogananda’s vision of brotherhood communities.
"Every sincere effort is registered in the divine consciousness"

“Self-Realization means the realization that your true Self is not the ego, but God, the vast ocean of Spirit which manifested for a time the little wave of awareness that you now see as yourself.”
